Abstract
Reproductive organs were recovered in 1971 from 59 adult 2 1/2-4 1/2 yr old female deer, Odocoileus virginianus, taken during hunts in Nov. and Dec. as part of the US Atomic Energy Commission''s Savannah River Project, Aiken, South Carolina, USA. Lactation was indicated by the presence of milk in the udder and ovulation by the presence of corpora lutea in the ovaries. Ovulation was not inhibited or delayed in lactating deer, and the initiation and progress of early pregnancy was not affected by the persistence of lactation in white-tailed deer. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
