Ranges of 200-400 kev N2+in some metals

Abstract
Concentration distributions of N2 + molecular ions implanted into Al, Ti, Cu, Mo, Hf, W and AISI 304 steel substrates have been measured in the energy range 200–400 keV by means of the broadening of the Ep = 429 keV resonance from the 15N(p,αγ)12C reaction. The modal and mean range values are given and compared with the theoretical predictions of a Monte Carlo calculation which uses the LSS cross sections. A simple empirical expression for the prediction of modal range values is proposed.
