Indications for Splenectomy

Abstract
The cure rate in primary hypersplenism is impressive and the improvement obtainable in hypersplenism secondary to other conditions sufficiently great to justify the procedure's wider use. Dr. Crosby makes a plea for removal of the spleen in the aged as well as the young before the patient has deteriorated to the point where relatively little or no benefit can be anticipated.
