Abstract
The problems of illumination symmetry in laser-imploded targets is studied using a two-dimensional fluid computer model. The thermal smoothing of 'hot spots' in the laser illumination is found to be much reduced for short laser wavelengths because of the smaller separation of critical density from the solid. Keywords
