Charge transfer in asymmetric heavy-ion collisions

Abstract
The impact parameter dependence of the capture of a target K-shell electron by a light projectile is calculated within the impulse approximation. Using a peaking approximation the authors show that the capture probability decreases monotonically with impact parameter. They evaluate the transfer probability in collisions of protons with C, Ne and Ar and compare with experiments.Keywords
