Abstract
Analyses show that the taurine excreted in the urine of rats following exposure to whole body irradiation (600r) does not arise from preformed tissue taurine. Depletion of tissue sulfhydryl compounds, by feeding of cholic acid, significantly reduced urinary taurine response to whole body radiation. Supplementation of the deficiency producing diet with L-cystine did not restore to normal the lowered urine taurine response to irradiation. Keywords
