Abstract
A. whitemani from Hispaniola can be separated into 3 spp. on the basis of coloration, pattern and scutellation [A. w. whitemani Williams, A. w. lapidosus ssp. nov. and A. w. breslini sp. nov.]. One subspecies occurs on the Haitian Presqu ile du Nord-Quest near its northwestern tip, another at the southeastern base of the peninsula, and the 3rd in the Cul de Sac-Valle de Neiba plain and the Llanos de Azua in Haiti and Republica Dominicana. A 4th population, poorly represented by specimens and left unnamed, occurs in the northwestern Republica Dominicana. The putative distribution of the species is discussed and its ecological relationships with A. cybotes are confirmed.
