Abstract
Ontogeny of Lasiobolus ciliatus was studied to determine the type of development of the ascogonium and of the ascocarp. Ascogonial development is described as similar to that of Coprobia granulata, Cheilymenia stercorea, and Scutellinia scutellata. Plastic embedding aided the study of ascocarp development. It is recommended that the genus Lasiobolus be removed from the Thelebolaceae and transferred to the Pyronemataceae, tribe Scutellinieae. Keywords
