Abstract
Freshman students at Utah State Agric. Coll., Branch Agric. Coll., and Brigham Young Univ. were given a dental examination. The men and women who were born and raised in Utah, 1135 of the 1954 students examined, had 9-12% more DMF teeth than the students in this study who were born and raised in Idaho or in other states (12.3 and 14.2 DMF teeth for the Utah men and women as compared to 9.7-10.0 and 10.8-13.0 for the other groups.) These differences were highly significant. Comparisons with results of similar studies in other states were made. The women had a greater number of DMF teeth, fewer teeth needing to be extracted, and fewer open cavities than the men. No one area of the state as represented by these students showed a low incidence of caries attack. Differences between the number of DMF teeth and surfaces for the students from 4 different counties in Utah were highly significant. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
