Abstract
A new methodology for analyzing the three-dimensional response of soil/structure systems to traveling seismic waves is described and used to analyze a single-span bridge subjected to incident plane SH-waves. The analysis results demonstrate the importance of traveling wave effects and show how the excitation frequency and direction of incidence of the seismic waves influence the three-dimensional response characteristics of this bridge/soil system. Keywords
