Oriented Polycrystal Formation of Halogen-containing Organic Molecules on Alkali Halide Windows and their Usefulness in Vibrational Spectroscopic Studies

Abstract
It has been found that several halogen-containing organic molecules normally crystallize as oriented polycrystals when in contact with alkali halide windows. This effect can lead to erroneous interpretation of crystal film spectra if it is not recognized, but can be very useful for determining molecular and/or crystal structures if the spectra are properly analyzed.
