In four cases of lipoid nephrosis electrophoretic patterns of serum proteins were studied before, during, and after the diuresis which was induced by means of adrenocorticotropin (ACTH). Although previous attempts to alter the protein patterns by means of intraven. albumin injns. had been unsuccessful, it was found that ACTH-induced diuresis provoked an abrupt improvement of the serum proteins which began with diuresis and became pronounced in a day or two. The low albumin peak and the large unresolved [alpha]2 and [beta] -globulin area were markedly altered, the albumin increasing several fold and the [alpha]2 and [beta] -globulin area showing distinct resolution. Simultaneously the serum cholesterol level and the gross lipemia diminished markedly.
