Abstract
1. 1) In transmission experiments with Glossina morsitans , using one strain of Trypanosoma rhodesiense , and two strains of T. brucei , the proportion of male flies infected was greater than that of females. 2. 2) In all experiments, female flies died sooner than males. 3. 3) It is suggested that conclusions derived from experiments in which tsetse flies are maintained in the laboratory may not be applicable to natural conditions. Field experiments should be carried out.
