Environmental concerns and actions: A social-psychological investigation.

Abstract
A large (893) and heterogeneous Canadian sample (human) was administered a test of environmental attitudes and knowledge developed by Maloney and Ward. Data were analyzed in 2 ways. Using Maloney, Ward and Braucht''s original scoring scheme the present study replicated their major findings. The 2nd analysis employed factor analytic techniques to examine the dimensionality of the original scales, and led to a re-scoring of the data which reflected the factor structures discovered. Apparently, the new scales have some heuristic value, in terms of increasing the understanding of the nature of attitude-behavior relationships in this area, and also in terms of their implications for social intervention policies.
