REABSORPTION OF CREATINE AND GUANIDOACETIC ACID BY THE RENAL TUBULES

Abstract
In normal males elevation of serum creatine within physiol. limits increased the excretion of guanidoacetic acid and reduced its renal tubular reabsorption, both at endogenous and at elevated serum levels. The reverse effect could not be conclusively demonstrated. Increases in renal excretion of guanidoacetic acid may be a reflection of creatinuria rather than of change in the rate of guanidoacetic acid synthesis or methylation.
