Abstract
This paper describes methods and topics used in 1189 studies of college students published between 1969 and 1983 in 11 selected journals. In the years reviewed, the number of college student papers published annually decreased, and the use of theory and advanced analytical methods increased. Few papers addressed minority students and community college students. Most studies were grounded in the “analytical science” paradigm; research based on other methodologies would enrich the college student literature. Keywords
