Perestroika for the University!

Abstract
Historians of science and sociologists of knowledge, Marxist critics of ideology and post-structuralist genealogists — and many others — can demonstrate convincingly that the university has never been genuinely and thoroughly devoted to the pursuit of a value-free knowledge. That may well have been a claim, of course, but now the scales have fallen from our eyes and we can see, finally, that something very different was at stake: training heartless bureaucrats for the administrative state, generating master narratives to dominate unsuspecting victims, producing cultural capital for the offspring of the elite, heightening the technical efficiency of an exterminist military apparatus, or just simply feathering the nests of a corrupt professoriate, white, male, and horror of horrors, middle-class.
