Abstract
The basic behaviour of the most common soliton system, described by the Korteweg-de Vries equation, is analysed and compared with the behaviour of nonlinear electrical transmission lines. The authors describe the construction of a transmission line for low-cost experiments with solitons. With it one can demonstrate the basic properties of solitons: the decomposition of an initial pulse to a set of solitons, their elastic scattering and the speed-amplitude relationship. Keywords
