Blood Plasma Ascorbic Acid Levels on Controlled Intakes of Ascorbic Acid

Abstract
On a diet containing an avg. of 7.1 mg. of reduced ascorbic acid 41 young women were given daily 50, 75, and 100 mg. of the synthetic vit. A 25 mg. ascorbic acid intake for 6 days or 2 wks. preceded the exptl. periods. On this intake, the plasma ascorbic acid values decreased or were barely maintained. For the 4 levels of intake the plasma values were 0.48, 0.72, 0.93, and 1.05, respectively.Keywords
