Abstract
The authors describe events leading up to field tests at the Battle River Plant in Alberta, Canada where rotor oscillations developed when an intertie transformer was disconnected during the normal course of system operation. Subsequent field tests to evaluate the inherent damping at the plant are described and details pertaining to commissioning a PSS (power system stabilizer) at this plant are included. PSS parameter selection is described in detail. Keywords
