Abstract
An approach to single-chip integration of digital user-end mobile communication systems is presented. The characteristics of this class of DSP (digital signal processing) systems define the requirements of the proposed system architecture and system design environment. A distributed control approach has been chosen. The system design environment provides high-level system synthesis towards mixed architectural styles and silicon assembly in mixed layout styles, in order to reach a solution with optimal area and power usage. The concept is demonstrated with the single-chip realization of the baseband part of a mobile terminal transmitter. Keywords
