Abstract
A Landau‐type theory of phase transitions with two order parameters is used to describe modificated ferromagnetic and spin glass phases. Phase transitions to “normal” ferromagnetic or paramagnetic states are investigated. We shall be interested mainly in the conditions of stability and the resulting consequences for the choice of coefficients in the Landau free energy. The critical behaviour of the modificated ferromagnetic and spin glass phases against external magnetic fields is shown. Physical properties as susceptibility, magnetization, and specific heat are deduced by chosing suitable linear temperature dependences of the coefficients of the free energy. The competing phases are considered. Keywords
