Abstract
Several circuits and devices are discussed which are used in European practice to control wound-rotor and squirrel-cage induction motors so as to reproduce the essential characteristics of dc motors. The application of thyristors is shown to make possible closely controlled, fast response operation of ac motors in single-and 4-quadrant service. Keywords
