Abstract
EXAFS measurements on the Cd and Br K edges are reported for CdBr2 aqueous solutions at various concentrations and for a hydrated CdBr2 crystal. A comparative analysis of the Fourier-filtered spectra provides evidence of Cd-Br bonding in solutions throughout the entire concentration range. A quantitative analysis of the spectra is also attempted and suggests that a well organised structure made up of chains of CdBr4 or CdBr3 units exists in these solutions. Keywords
