Abstract
The absence of oxygen-rich dust in the Red Rectangle offers a unique opportunity of observing the effects of one component of dust over a wide spectral range. Observations and new laboratory data suggest that the dust observed in the Red Rectangle is carbon-rich with a composition similar to that of hydrogenated amorphous carbon (HAC).Keywords
