Abstract
An analysis is presented for the prediction of the pressures required to effect the infiltration of both conventional and hybridised aligned fibre bundles, taking into account the exact meniscus configuration and the effect of entrapped gas. This allows the existence, and size, of defects formed under particular infiltration conditions to be predicted. The strength of the cohesive forces acting between the fibres during infiltration is calculated. MST/1130Keywords
