Nonlinear Properties of TGS- and BaTiO3-Crystals with Defects

Abstract
The influence of different kinds of defects on the temperature behaviour of linear and nonlinear elastic, dielectric and electro-mechanical coefficients was investigated near ferroelectric phase transitions of first and second order. In the case of TGS-crystals we studied the influence of point defects produced by γ-irradiation and of one-dimensional defects on the temperature dependence of linear and nonlinear coefficients in the paraelectric phase. For BaTiO3-crystals we were interested in the influence of Fe- and Cr-impurities on the temperature behaviour of linear and nonlinear properties. The results obtained for the samples with defects were compared with those of very perfect crystals.
