Abstract
X‐ray diffraction data for the high‐pressure form of cerium metal recently published by Schaufelberger confirm that α′‐Ce has the α‐uranium structure as previously reported by Ellinger and Zachariasen. The pressure deduced from the α‐Ce lattice constant is 9 kbar smaller than reported by Schaufelberger. At a deduced pressure of 43 kbar the unit‐cell dimensions are a=4.621±0.003 Å for α‐Ce and a=3.094±0.002 Å, b=6.007±0.004 Å, c=5.246 ±0.004 Å for α′‐Ce with ΔV/V=−0.012.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
