Abstract
A case of retinal embolism following angiography has been described. The nature of the emboli is discussed and it is concluded that these were either platelet or cholesterol emboli arising from an ulcerated plaque in the internal carotid artery. In view of the fact that the patient was a diabetic, the likelihood is that these were cholesterol emboli. It is possible that this complication occurs more frequently and has often escaped recognition. Keywords
