Abstract
A two-stage inertial-type particle separator has been developed for collecting large size-selective samples of particulates on filters. The sampler operates at a flow rate of 1.4 cubic feet per minute and may be run for extended periods without change in collecting efficiency. The particle size cut of the sampler is at a diameter of 1.4 microns; separation of greater than 90 percent is obtained for particles below 0.80 micron and above 2.0 microns. The sampler was calibrated with monodisperse polystyrene latexes. Data are presented to relate the separating efficiency of the sampler to its separation parameters. Keywords
