Hypnotherapy for Intractable Post-Surgical Hiccups

Abstract
A case of intractable hiccups successfully treated by hypnosis over the telephone is reported. The patient was one whom the hypnotherapist had never met. Hypnosis, self-hypnosis, posthypnotic and autosuggestions, taught on the first session, were used as positive, conditioning reinforcement procedures. There was almost a prompt and dramatic cessation of the hiccups. The patient received brief psychotherapy directed toward the symptom and the characterological leve.Keywords
