Abstract
The Hion plays an important role in diverse fields from chemistry to astronomy and planetary science. In this Perspective, McCall and Oka report on a recent discussion meeting of the Royal Society where researchers from all these fields came to discuss the present and future of this ubiquitous molecule. Keywords
