Abstract
The method of neutron inelastic scattering has been used to determine the phonon dispersion relation (12 branches) of gallium at 77 °K in the three main symmetry directions [ξ00], [0ξ0] and [00ξ]. To achieve this the so-called phonon structure factor was calculated, indicating as a function of position in reciprocal space the total intensity of the phonon peaks belonging to any particular irreducible representation. Keywords
