Multiphonon Resonant Raman Scattering in LaMnO3: Prediction Using the Frank-Condon Formulation

Abstract
The absolute cross sections of the first and second Raman Resonant peaks have been obtained in a Frank-Condon approximation for the Jahn-Teller active phonon mode in LaMnO$_3$. The intensity of the first and the second order Raman peaks depend on the frequency of the incident photon light and are predicted to be of the same order of magnitude. The absolute value of the first Raman peak cross section is estimated at 10^{-26} cm^{2} sterad^{-1} for Ar^{+} laser frequency.
