Abstract
Since the discovery of the angiopoietins, much interest has been focused on their biological actions and their potential use as therapeutic targets. It is generally accepted that the angiopoietins play an important role in angiogenesis and hence are described as angiogenic factors. However, it is becoming increasingly clear that this is not their only role and it is likely that the angiopoietins have important roles in a wider range of biological and pathological functions. Keywords
