Abstract
Seventy-two human and Rhesus monkey teeth were analyzed using microradio-graphic, microhardness, microdissection and microsubstitution techniques. The following observations were made. The general pattern of enamel calcification followed closely the incremental pattern of enamel matrix formation. The enamel rod matrix calcified before the interrod substance, the latter thus presenting pathways for diffusion of tissue fluid containing calcium-phosphate ions during the mineralization process. No evidence of post-eruption increase in mineral content was demonstrated. This publication has 25 references indexed in Scilit:
