A Comparison of Obese and Nonobese Diabetic Subjects

Abstract
From the clinical aspect the obese, lipoplethoric diabetic differs in many respects from the nonobese insulindeficient patient, as has been pointed out by Lawrence. Nevertheless, published statistics with regard to diabetes do not generally take cognizance of such differences, and it appeared that it might be of interest to investigate the characteristics of these two groups separately. Accordingly we undertook a study of 1,000 patients all of whom had been diabetic for at least one year and who were attending the diabetic clinic at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow.
