The Distribution in Angle of Alpha-Particles from Lithium Bombarded with Protons

The distribution in angle of alpha-particles from ${\mathrm{Li}}^7$+${\mathrm{H}}^1$ is found to be of the form $1+\mathrm{A}{cos}^2\theta$. The variation of $A$ with bombarding energy is characterized by a rapid increase in the range 250 to 325 kev presumably indicating resonance to a broad excited level of ${\mathrm{Be}}^8$.
