Nature of 4fmagnetism inCe1−xLaxPd2Si2

Abstract
The results of magnetic-susceptibility, resistivity, and specific-heat measurements on Ce1x Lax Pd2 Si2 show that the magnetic ordering temperature TN decreases linearly with increasing x with the dominance of Kondo compensation effects even in the magnetically ordered regime, also for x=0.9; this indicates that the periodicity of the Ce ions does not play any role in deciding the interesting characteristics for CePd2 Si2, particularly the breakdown of de Gennes scaling. Our results place the interpretations of recent quasielastic linewidth measurements on the competition between magnetism and Kondo effect on a firm footing.
