Effect of Repeated Replenishment of Hypothalamie Extract on LH and FSH Secretion in Monolayer Cultures of Rat Anterior Pituitary Cells1

Abstract
Secretion of LH and FSH in primary monolayer cultures of rat anterior pituitary cells was investigated over a period of 41 days. The effects of rat hypothalamie extract (HE) on cell growth and hormone secretion were assessed. The culture media were replenished at 3–4-day intervals and their LH and FSH contents were measured by double antibody radioimmunoassay methods. In absence of HE, the concentrations of LH and FSH declined gradually and reached undetectable levels (Endocrinology92: 6, 1973)
