PITUITARY WEIGHT IN GROWING NEW ZEALAND WHITE RABBITS IN RELATION TO LIVE WEIGHT1

Abstract
Individual values of pituitary wt. and associated body wts. for growing New Zealand white rabbits are presented in r logarithmic chart. An analysis of covariance in pituitary to tody wt. relations establishes a statistically significant difference due to sex. The ratio of pituitary to body wt. is found to decline with increase of body wt. during growth. Fitted equations relating pituitary and body wts. (Y = aXb) for these growing rabbits are compared with curves for mature animals of different species for similar range of body wts. Tables for prediction of pituitary wt. from body wt. and for proportioning pituitary or metabolism stimulating injs. according to pituitary wt. are presented.
