Abstract
Energy values, approximate wave functions, and effective potentials are determined for several states of the valence electron of the lithium atom and of a group of lithiumlike ions. ns, np and nd states with n=2,...,8 are considered for Li, Be1+, B2+, C3+, N4+, O5+, F6+, Na8+, Mg9+, Al10+, Si11+, and P12+. Though the adopted calculation procedure is quite simple, the results are in very good agreement with experimental values and more sophisticated calculations. The present calculations may be of use in the physics of highly stripped ions. Moreover, the reported effective potentials may be used for physical processes, where the pseudo or model potentials are out of the question. Keywords
