Abstract
The necropsy of an orthotopic cardiac homograft recipient which survived 5 months without immunosuppressive therapy is described. The animal succumbed to biventricular failure caused by valvular lesions and arterial insufficiency due to chronic rejection. The absence of acute myocardial rejection and arteritis is ascribed to an unusual donor-graft histocompatibility. Keywords
