Abstract
The rate at which the dissociation equilibrium of the CO-hemochromogens of the ferment model mesohemin IX-poly-(phenylalanine-glutamic acid) and its active group mesohemin EX is regulated from both sides in darkness, was measured at 5[degree]C and 10[degree] C. Under the influence of the polypeptide chain, (1) at the temperature of measurement the decomposition of the CO compound is retarded; its formation is accelerated; (2) the transition state as concerns the CO compound becomes richer in energy, as concerns the hemochromogen, poorer in energy; (3) the transition state as concerns the CO compound becomes entropy richer, as concerns the hemochromogen entropy, poorer. This means that the polypeptide chain is able either to accelerate or to retard the rate at which the CO compound is formed or is split, according to the reaction temperature. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
