Abstract
Two diabetic populations were determined, one for those under 30 years of age who had no complications and had been insulin-treated for less than 5 years (I), the other for those over 50 who had complications and insulin treatment for more than 5 years (II). In both groups, whole blood filtration (WBF) was tested on Nucleopore 5μm filters (Reid et al., 1976), and current factors known to influence WBF were also tested. In addition, erythrocyte 2–3 diphosphoglycer-ate (2–3 DPG) was measured. WBF was statistically increased in the group I (P<0.02).Keywords
