Abstract
"Need-free" Na appetite cannot be explained on the basis of a Na reservoir hypothesis. The Na transport hypothesis is more plausible. It views salt appetite as a response to K and Na metabolism. The exact site which regulates the ionic composition of the internal environment is as yet undefined but is probably associated with the brain or the pharynx.This publication has 35 references indexed in Scilit:
