A New Genetic Marker of Human IgG3 Immunoglobulins

Abstract
A new antigenic determinant was found which is present on proteins of the main IgG3 allotypes, Gm(g) and Gm(b), but absent from IgG3 proteins carrying Gm(s). It was shown to be a genetical marker in family studies. The antiserum detecting this specificity is similar to antisera of ‘long specificity’, which term is used in HL-A serology. The antigenic determinant offers a link for the generation sequence of Gm allotypes during evolution.
