Abstract
The author studied by fluorescein angiography the vascular conditions in 50 cases of rhegmatogenous detachment. Capillary dilatation and hyperpermeability were observed on the detached retina and can be considered as an autoregulation phenomenon secondary to tissular hypoxia. Diffuse peripheral vascular occlusions were a typical finding in detachments with peripheral holes. In these cases a preexisting retinal perfusion defect was probably exaggerated by the increased resistances secondary to the detachment. Keywords
