Abstract
RHEUMATOID arthritis remains the major chronic and progressive crippling disease of childhood. In the United States alone, there may be as many as 175,000 cases, but this is only a rough estimate, since no survey of any chronic children's disease has ever been undertaken. Recent investigations, though chiefly descriptive, have added greatly to therapeutic judgment in the management of this disease.
