Abstract
A series of new mixed-ligand saccharin complexes of Co, Ni, Cu and Zn with 1,10-phenantroline, phenylhydrazine and benzidine have bccn prepared and characterizcd by elemental analysis magnetic moments, spectral and themial analysis techniques. 1,10-Phenantroline and phenylhydrazine are coordinated to the metal ions as chelating ligands through their two N atoms, while benzidine acts a monodentate ligand. The metal ions usually have octahedral geometry with two saccharinate anions in the trans positions and the coordinating ligand in the cis positions. The complexes of Cu(II) saccharinates with phenylhydrazinc and benzidine exhibit bimetallic dimeric structures with Cu-Cu bonds. Keywords
